Sassy's Fangirl Authors - Top 5 Books to Look Out for this Summer!

Today is finally the day that my YA author program launches! What better way to celebrate than with books, right? With summer nearly upon us, it's time to break out those tanks and shorts, head on down to the beach or pool and dive into a cute summer read that will just leave us swooning all over the place! In celebration of summer time and the launch of my program, I've put together five top books that are a must-have for your reading list this summer!

Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton - Goodreads - Out Now!

Set in a mystical desert nation called Miraji, Sands follows “a gun-slinging girl desperate to escape her past, and a handsome foreigner who harbors dangerous secrets... Is it really any wonder why this book is at the top of my summer reading list? Not only does it have a captivating summary that caught my attention immediately, but it's cover! Everything about it is absolutely gorgeous and I most definitely hugged my copy when it arrived yesterday-- don't judge! I've heard nothing but great things about this one and I highly suggest you add this to your TBR pile for the summer!

★ Everland by Wendy Spinale - Goodreads - 5/10/16

As someone who is always reading books of retellings, you can imagine my excitement when I stumbled upon the book deal for Spinale's forthcoming novel, Everland. Pitched as a steampunk re-imagining of Peter Pan set in a gritty alternate world where monarchs reign and a deadly virus has decimated London, about a girl who must band together with Pete and the Lost Children to rescue her sister from the military terrorist Captain Hanz Otto Oswald Kretshmer. My excitement for this book has no bounds! This re-telling definitely sounds like such a unique and creative one and I can't wait to get my hands on it!

The Girl of Ink and Stars by Kiran Hargave - Goodreads - 5/5/16

Pitched as a beautifully written story of friendship, discovery, myths, and magic this one is for fans of Katherine Rundell’s Rooftoppers and Kelly Barnhill’s The Witch’s Boy. Myths, magic and friendship? Sign. Me. Up! I have had my eyes on this book for such a long time and I look forward to the day it releases so I can run to the nearest bookstore and pick up my own copy! Plus...can we all agree that this cover is stunning?!

★ The Loose Ends List by Carrie Firestone - Goodreads - 5/5/16

Now, who can resist laying down by the pool and reading a cute contemporary novel? Not this girl! This stunning debut novel is about a teenage girl's whirlwind summer of first loves, last wishes, and letting go, while traveling around the world for her grandmother's last hurrah on a cruise ship for terminally ill patients and their loved ones. Firestone's forthcoming novel sounds like it will tug at the heartstrings of many and I am certainly looking forward for when I dive head first into it! The Loose Ends List is a must-have on your summer reading list!

★ Even if the Sky Falls by Mia Garcia - Goodreads - 5/10/16

Pitched aswhirlwind 24-hour romance in which two teens with questionable pasts fall in love just before a hurricane tears them apart. After reading the synopsis for Garcia's upcoming novel, I couldn't help but get excited over it. I love reading YA contemporary novels and the second I laid my eyes on this one, I knew I needed it ASAP! With it's stunning cover and compelling synopsis, come on, is it really any wonder why I'm anxious for May to get here? Highly suggest you add this one to your summer reading pile because I have a feeling that Garcia's novel will be taking the YA contemporary genre by storm! (see what I did there *snickers*)

What are your thoughts on these summer novels? Will you be picking them up once they hit stores? What else are you looking forward to this summer? Let me know down in the comments below!

| Blog Tour | In Real Life by Jessica Love - Sassy & Classy Outfit + Giveaway!

Title: In Real Life

Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Release Date: March 1st, 2016
Publisher:  St. Martin's Press
Hannah Cho and Nick Cooper have been best friends since 8th grade. They talk for hours on the phone, regularly shower each other with presents, and know everything there is to know about one another. There's just one problem: Hannah and Nick have never actually met. Hannah has spent her entire life doing what she's supposed to, but when her senior year spring break plans get ruined by a rule-breaker, she decides to break a rule or two herself. She impulsively decides to road trip to Las Vegas, her older sister and BFF in tow, to surprise Nick and finally declare her more-than-friend feelings for him. Hannah's surprise romantic gesture backfires when she gets to Vegas and finds out that Nick has been keeping some major secrets. Hannah knows the real Nick can't be that different from the online Nick she knows and loves, but now she only has night in Sin City to figure out what her feelings for Nick really are, all while discovering how life can change when you break the rules every now and then.

If you haven't already noticed, I love pairing outfits to match book covers. It's definitely a fun way to pass the time and for this blog tour, I decided to whip up a fun summer outfit for Jessica Love's recent novel, In Real Life!

With spring and summer literally upon us, it's now time to bring out those shorts and tanks that are hidden away in our closets. And what better way to do that than to match it to a gorgeous book cover, right?

As I sat down to prepare this outfit, immediately I knew I had to go with a summer look. In Real Life sounds like the perfect spring/summer read, so I wanted to make sure I had that image in my head before I started the process of creating the outfit.

As someone who lives three minutes away from the beach and can always be found wearing shorts, this entire outfit literally screams me. During the summer, I love to pair up shorts and cute tops with some accessories, so this outfit was super simple to put together! Even though I am a huge fan of dresses, I thought I'd go for a casual and comfortable look this time. So, like the cover, I decided to go with a mix of light colors for the outfit. With the top and shorts above, I thought it fit perfect not only to the color of the cover, but also to the plot of the book. Shorts and tanks in Las Vegas are a must!

With the accessories of the outfit, such as the earrings, sunglasses and watch, I wanted to try and make them light colored as well. I wanted everything in this outfit to be light colored and simple, because if I added something that stood out from the rest, it would make it totally unbalanced, if that makes any sense. And of course with the beauty products, it would also be a simple look. Just apply some eyeliner, powder and a few swipes of lip gloss and you're good to go!

Jessica Love is a high school English teacher who lives in Southern California with her husband and their two tiny dogs. She's working on her Master's Degree in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Spalding University, and her big love is contemporary YA romance. Jessica spends all of her free money on concerts, constantly tries to prove that blondes have more fun, and is pretty much always on the internet.

| Review | Earth's End by Elise Kova - A Phoenix From the Ashes

Title: Earth's End
Author: Elise Kova
Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy, Romance
Release Date: February 11th, 2016
Publisher:  Silver Wing Press
A woman awoken in air, a soldier forged by fire, a weapon risen from blood. Vhalla Yarl has made it to the warfront in the North. Forged by blood and fire, she has steeled her heart for the final battle of the Solaris Empire’s conquest. The choices before Vhalla are no longer servitude or freedom, they are servitude or death. The stakes have never been higher as the Emperor maintains his iron grip on her fate, holding everything Vhalla still has left to lose in the balance.

Elise Kova strikes again with this compelling and engrossing novel! Full of action, romance and magic, this book is sure to leave you entertained from the very first page to the last!

If you've been following me for awhile now, you would know that I absolutely loved the Air Awakens series by Elise Kova. With vivid descriptions, strong world building, and compelling characters, I fell in love with the series instantly. If you'd like to know more of what I thought about books one and two of the series, check my reviews out HERE and HERE!

Straight up, Kova's writing style was one of the major aspects that I loved about the book. Expressive, honest, and so full of emotion that you just can't help but be swept away into the pages of the book. Instantly, I was captured by the beauty of her words and how they all gracefully flowed together, seducing me from the very first pages and allowing me to vividly picture her world in my head. Not only was I entranced with the writing style, but the world building as well. Throughout the series, Kova intricately weaved a beautiful world full of magic and intrigue, making me wish I was in the story myself. One of the many things that I noticed throughout the first three books was how Kova placed little details here and there and through the books, they all came together perfectly, which was something that I admired and showed me how well thought out she had planned everything. There is no doubt in my mind that Kova will blow my mind away in the next installment!

With Vhalla Yarl, the heroine of the story, no words can express just how much I admired and loved her. Throughout the books, she has carried herself with grace, intelligence, beauty, and passion and even with everything she's been through, she never lost any of that. She has grown so much over the last three books, emotionally and physically and I know I can't be the only one who admires her as a character. Kova created a heroine that all readers will connect to due to the fact that she is realistic, honest and most importantly, unique. Characters such as Vhalla Yarl are extremely hard to find in YA novels and I am thrilled that I and other readers have been given the chance to meet her. I most certainly looking forward to seeing how she develops more in the series and what adventure lies next for her!

Not only do we get to see old characters, but we are also introduced to new ones, which excited me to no end! All of them were such a delight to read about, especially one in particular, and you'll know who if you've read the book before! These new characters brought humor, loyalty, compassion and so much more to the story and I hope to see more of them in the next books to come!

Last but not least, the romance; oo-la-la! Even though Earth's End's plot revolves around war and bloodshed, the romantic flame between Aldrik and Vhalla certainly hasn't dwindled! The relationship between these two characters made my heart swell with such joy whenever they were together. The heat and passion between them felt so real and compelling that it was almost impossible to put the book down because of the two! With how it ended, I'm anxious yet excited to see how it will work out between them, especially with how the book left off.
Needless to say, I will certainly be picking up the next book in this series! Kova created Earth's End to an absolute perfection--from the wonderful writing and world building to the compelling and rich characters, she is an author you surely don't want to miss getting to know!

Could you feel the love I have for this series while reading my review? I literally hugged all three books when I finished writing this post! Not even embarrassed in the slightest! ;) Have you read this series before? What are your thoughts on it? If you haven't read it yet, will you be? Let me know down in the comments below!

Today, as of March 1st, 2016, I am thrilled to announce that my Young Adult author feature, Sassy's Fangirl Authors is scheduled for re-launch on March 15th!

After months of quietly working and putting all of my attention on this, I am so happy to finally announce to you guys that Sassy's Fangirl Authors is now re-launching and I promise you it's going to be bigger and better than the last time! There are two fun announcements at the bottom of this post, so don't miss it! But first, if you aren't familiar with what my program is, let me br-br-break it down for you!

★ What Is Sassy's Fangirl Authors?

Sassy's Fangirl Authors is a young adult author feature/program I created last fall in hopes of promoting and spreading the word about books and authors. However, since I didn't want the program to be solely based on interviews and guest posts, I decided to make it more unique. To do that, I based the program on the hit TV show, Marvels Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. with the help of my Marvel loving brothers, thus coming up with the "missions", badges and other fun, secret agent things that we put to it. Pretty cool, right?

What Can You Expect From Sassy's Fangirl Authors?

All things books, of course! This program will be a weekly event on the blog that will happen every Sunday. There will be a mix of blog posts as well as some other fun things, some of which you'll have to be on the lookout for! Not only will I be doing weekly posts, but I will also be sending out monthly S.F.A newsletters. It will contain book news, a spotlight section for an author and their book, exclusive insider scoop, book recommendations and of course, subscriber only giveaways! Intrigued yet? If you'd like the next newsletter to hit your inbox (April 1st), then sign up HERE!

Sassy's Fangirl Authors Monthly Twitter Chats!

Twitter chats are such a fun way to connect with other readers and express our excitement or love over books and upcoming titles, so I thought, hey, why not host a twitter chat every month for the program? So that's exactly what I'm doing! Every month, I will be hosting a twitter chat with the hashtag #SassysFangirlAuthors where we will talk about upcoming books, cover reveals we are excited about, recommend some upcoming books that we can't WAIT for, questions that I will be asking everyone, including the authors, and even some giveaways!

For celebration, I am hosting a giveaway! TWO winners will win their choice of books I've listed below! Open worldwide!

EEEP! I am so happy to finally be getting back on the debut train! I had so much fun last year promoting so many wonderful authors and I look forward to doing it again this year with some exciting and new improvements! Let me know your thoughts down in the comments below about the new design and what you think of everything else! :)

Happy reading!
