Playing the occasional club gig just isn’t cutting it for twenty-two-year-old cellist Skyler Canby, who’s trying to support herself and her mother back home in Kentucky. Persuaded by her best friend Beth to accompany her on an audition for the first feature film launched by Blackwood Entertainment, she figures why not? Beth’s a shoe-in for the lead, but maybe Skyler’s newly dyed pink hair will help her stand out enough to score a small speaking part.
Never in her wildest dreams does Skyler imagine she’ll land the lead role or that she’ll have her shoes knocked off her feet by the kiss her audition partner, Grey Blackwood, plants on her—a kiss that feels very real and not at all “acted. ”
After throwing a party that causes thousands of dollars of damage to his older brother’s home, reckless musician Grey Blackwood gets roped into working off his debt on the set of his CEO brother’s newest project. Grey spends his days fetching coffee and doing odd jobs around the studio, but he lives for nights when he performs with his band. He knows if he can stay focused, success as a singer is just around the corner. But that’s tough with a distracting pink-haired girl occupying his every waking thought.
Skyler and Grey have every reason to resist each other. But, like a song neither of them can get out of their minds, they have no choice but to go where the music takes them.

Hi Lorin and Veronica! I am so happy to have you stop by the blog today! Before we get the interview started, would you like to tell us a little bit about yourselves?
Lorin: Thanks so much for having us! And happy blogiversary!
Just to shake things up, I’m going to tell you a bit about Veronica instead of myself! Veronica is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the tremendous UNDER THE NEVER SKY series and the upcoming (equally amazing) duology, RIDERS and SEEKERS.
She lives in CA with her awesome family and adorable pets, is a trained artist, an amazing writing partner and friend, and a lover of sushi—the glue that holds our collaborative relationship together. She’s also one of the kindest, most genuine people I know, as well as being a super brilliant and dedicated writer. Basically, she’s the best!
Veronica: What a lovely introduction. Thank you! My turn now. Lorin is an award-winning writer, a first-rate editor, and all-around brilliant mind on the craft of writing. She lives in Tampa with her two adorable kitties. However, Lorin is often traveling for the writing workshops she leads, or to visit friends and family. Not only does Lorin have an amazing family, she makes everyone feel like family. She has a gigundous, loving heart and I’m lucky to know her.
1. Can you tell us about the Boomerang series, and how you guys came up with the idea for the book?
Veronica: I think it basically grew from a Skype chat we were having. We started riffing on the basic idea, which was Lorin’s, and next thing we knew, we had an outline and a first chapter. It continued pretty quickly from there. We didn’t put a lot of pressure on it; we were just having a lot of fun!
2. What was the most difficult part in writing it? The easiest?
Lorin: The easiest was the plotting and character development. We were definitely on the same page! The hardest was finding the perfect working rhythm, as we both had incredibly busy schedules during the writing of all three books, which we did in basically sixteen months! That’s a fast pace!
3. Are there any parts in the book that you guys feel particularly close to? If so, what would it be?
Lorin: I love all the moments in BOUNCE where Grey and Skyler extend themselves to one another, baring their souls, being sweet and supportive. I also really adore their teasing and their rapport. They’re just so adorable together!
Veronica: I agree. And I loved all the music in this novel, too. And the fact that both characters are such artists. I think I can relate to this pair more than the couples in the previous books.
4. During the cover design process (I bet that’s always the fun part!) where you able to voice what you wanted/pictured?
Lorin: Actually, yes! HarperCollins was really great about us having input into the process, and they did a wonderful job of taking our thoughts and turning them into fun, eye-catching covers.
5. Do you have any upcoming projects? If so, can you let us in on a sneak peak?
Veronica: I have my next Young Adult novel releasing in February of next year. It’s a modern-day fantasy, about four teens who unwittingly become the four horsemen of the apocalypse. It has lots of action, romance and humor. I’m very excited about it! And I wish I could give you a sneak peak, but I think my publisher is controlling the flow there, and has plans to do something in the coming months.
Lorin: I’m playing with a couple of things now, too—another NA novel and a YA suspense novel. Will see which grabs the majority of my attention!
What a fun interview! Thank you once again Lorin and Veronica for stopping by and congratulations on your amazing series!
Again, thanks so much for allowing us to be part of your celebration! Here’s wishing you, and the blog, many more awesome years!
Veronica completed undergraduate studies at UCLA and lives in Northern California with her husband and two sons. She is fond of dresses with pockets, fluffy dogs, and cheese and chocolate — but not together. LORIN OBERWEGER began her storytelling career by captivating her first-grade class with tales of her summers on a kibbutz in Israel. Lorin had never been to Israel.
While teacher/parent night put an end to her first experiments in fiction, she’d already caught the bug and eventually made a career of all things story. As a long-time independent editor and story development guru, Lorin’s client successes range from small press publications to major bestselling novels. She’s an award-winning author and has also worked behind the scenes as a ghostwriter on a variety of projects. Her work has received starred Kirkus reviews and glowing mentions in The New York Times. Oh, she did get to see a kibbutz, eventually, and found out she had it pretty much right all along. Veronica and Lorin met at a writing workshop and just knew they were destined to create awesome things together.
