Tomorrow is the day, people! Tomorrow is the day that I started blogging one year ago! Holy crap...time flies by real quick. A year ago, I never thought I'd become a book blogger, or even a blogger no less. I was fourteen years old and just wanted to try something new and fun for the summer. I didn't realize that people actually wanted to read what I thought about things and that I would get to connect with so many amazing bloggers, authors and publishers!
Growing up, I was very timid and didn't really talk to a lot of people. It also didn't help that sometimes I barely understood what they were saying since they spoke Spanish. But as I grew older, I learned the Spanish language and I got better at socializing. Did I want to socialize though? Not really! I preferred sitting down with a book in my hand rather than talking to people.
Flash forward to the month of July in 2014...I was a bored teenager with lots on my mind about books, writing ideas and my future. Since I suck at keep a diary, I thought I'd create a blog. At first, I didn't even think of making it a book blog. I just wanted a place to talk about my personal thoughts. But later on, I thought it'd be fun to try out reviewing books, and I think it's one of the best decisions I've ever made!
WHO HAVE THOU CONNECTED WITH?
Over the past year, I've made quite a few connections with other bloggers, authors and even publishers. All of them are so very kind and supportive of me, it makes me swell with happiness. The book community is such a lovely place and I don't know where or what I'd be doing without it.
When I first started blogging, the two bloggers I met and connected with was Tika over at Fangirl Confessions and Blessie at Mischievous Reads. Tika, Blessie, thank you! Thank you for always coming by my blog and leaving your support in the comments, for always making me laugh in our crazy convo's and just for being awesome friends!
I've also had the opportunity to connect with amazing authors and publishers. I can't even describe the feeling I get when someone takes the time and money to send me down a book for review, or if an author agrees to do an interview or guest post on my blog. When I started Sassy & Dangerous, it wasn't for the intention of getting books. I didn't even know what ARC copies where until six months into blogging.
Some of the great authors I got to connect with through blogging were: Lesa Howard, Iain Reading, Erin Johnson, Emily Wibberley, Natasha Lowe, Elise Kova, and so many more. All of these authors sent me their book(s) to read and review and I ended up loving them because of how amazing they were! From fantasy, to romance, to thriller, you definitely have to check these authors out!
Not only have I gotten the chance to connect with authors, but also publicists! Being that I am international, not a lot of publishers can send books my way. But some have, and for that I am SO very grateful.
A huge thank you to Michelle Cashman over at St. Martin's Press. Thank you so much for keeping up with all my requests and not telling me that I'm going crazy with how many books I want to read from the catalog. You are awesome!
Another HUGE thank you to Nicole Musich from Disney Hyperion. You are so awesome for sending down my package and I have no words to describe how grateful I am to you. :)
And one last thank you to Naomi over in London at the Macmillan publisher house. Yes, you heard me right. She sent me a book from LONDON! Amazing! Thank you so much, Naomi! You are the bomb dot com! :)
These are just some of the authors and publicists that have sent me books to read and review. I am grateful for every single book that comes my way and I am so very thankful to the people that send it to me!
And most importantly, I've connected with you. My readers. From day one, you've been here, reading my sometimes silly thoughts on books, you've commented your thoughts and you've supported me through it all and I couldn't have done it without you. You guys are truly amazing and all I want to say is:
(Who doesn't love a little Dean to brighten up their day?)
WHAT HAVE THOU DONE WITH THY BLOG?
I've done so much with this blog, it's not even a joke. Not too long after I created this, I thought I would give Instagram a try. I started back in the month March, and now have over 400+ followers. My account is a book based account (which we call bookstagram) and I absolutely love it! I love how I can connect with other people on Instagram that share the same love as me: books! My account is on my sidebar if you'd like to check it out!
I finally got a Twitter! I started just a few months ago and whoa, it has done a lot for me and my blog. Not only have I met other amazing authors, publicists and readers, but I've always gained more attention to Sassy & Dangerous and it makes me happy because I love getting new readers and hearing their thoughts on my thoughts! You guys put my feels in a cast, I tell you! *dies of happy feelings*
I started a freaking Zazzle store! Yes, you read correct! I finally decided to start designing some bookish things and and putting them up for sell. So far, I only have a few items up and I'm still in the process of designing more, but I am so happy with how they turned out. You can take a look HERE if you want! :)
I think one of the biggest challenges in the book community that I am going to face will be starting a booktube channel. If you don't know what booktube is, it is basically a bookish YouTube channel. I'm really wanting to step out of my comfort zone and to do more things, so I thought what better way to do that than to create a booktube channel? The only thing I'm nervous about is people not liking what I post, but hey, you're not going to please everyone!
